Near the city centre of Sneek, situated at Parkstraat, one will find Brasserie ‘De Noorderpoort’. Easily reachable via car, with public transport or by foot with nearby good parking facilities.
History
The name Brasserie ‘De Noorderpoort’ is related to the location. When one turns right outside the Brasserie, the route goes to the Noorderpoortsburg, a name which reminds to the Noorderpoort. This gateway perished in 1843 with the construction of the Bolswarderweg. The bridge itself is build in the early 30s based on the design of city architect Mr. Jan de Kok (1891 – 1976). On different places in the city centre one will find walls and bridges designed by this architect.
